Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport)

Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport)

Neuromodulators are a refined, minimally invasive approach to softening the visible effects of repetitive facial movement. Treatments such as Botox and Dysport use a purified protein to gently modulate the activity of select muscles, allowing the skin to rest and lines to soften over time.

Rather than altering expression, the focus is on preserving it. Strategic placement and precise dosing help maintain natural movement while easing areas of tension that contribute to fine lines, particularly across the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes.

The result is a more rested, balanced appearance that feels effortless and remains true to your features. This is not about creating stillness, but about subtle refinement, where changes are noticed more as a shift in overall presence than in any one specific feature.

Each treatment is tailored to individual anatomy and movement, ensuring results are understated, intentional, and aligned with the natural structure of the face.

Areas of Focus

Neuromodulators can be used to address areas of repetitive movement where lines and tension naturally develop over time. Treatment is guided by individual anatomy and expression patterns, most commonly focusing on the upper face, including the forehead, between the brows, and around the eyes. More nuanced areas may include the brows, chin, jawline, and neck.

Rather than treating each area in isolation, the approach considers how the face moves as a whole, allowing for subtle adjustments that create balance, softness, and a more composed overall appearance.

Neuromodulators (Botox, Dysport) FAQ

Am I a good candidate for neuromodulator treatment?

Ideal candidates are those looking to soften expression lines while maintaining natural movement, or individuals interested in preventative treatment. Suitability is based on overall health, facial anatomy, and aesthetic goals, all of which are assessed during consultation.

Treatment may not be appropriate for those who are pregnant or breastfeeding, have certain neuromuscular conditions, active skin infections in the treatment area, or known sensitivities to botulinum toxin. A thorough consultation ensures safety and appropriateness.

Results typically last 3 to 4 months, with subtle variation depending on metabolism, muscle activity, and treatment area.

It is recommended to avoid alcohol, as well as blood-thinning medications or supplements such as aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E for several days prior, when appropriate. Arriving with clean skin and minimal makeup is ideal.

Initial softening can begin within a few days, with full results developing over 10 to 14 days.

To support optimal results, avoid lying flat, strenuous exercise, alcohol, and excessive heat exposure for the remainder of the day. It is also recommended to avoid massaging or applying pressure to treated areas.

Neuromodulator treatments are well-studied and generally well tolerated when performed by a qualified injector. Common side effects are mild and temporary, including slight redness, swelling, or bruising at injection sites.

Some individuals may experience a mild, temporary headache following treatment, which typically resolves within a few days.

Less commonly, temporary asymmetry, heaviness, or unintended relaxation of nearby muscles may occur, which can affect areas such as the eyelid or brow. These effects are typically temporary and improve as the product settles. It may take approximately 10 to 14 days for any unevenness to resolve. If concerns persist beyond this period, please return for a follow up appointment in 2 weeks for reassessment.

All potential risks and considerations are reviewed during your consultation to ensure treatment is appropriate and aligned with your goals.
